Project ATTAIN
Access to trauma-informed treatment and assessment for neurodivergent and/or gender-expansive youth.
The overall goal of Project ATTAIN is to improve outcomes for neurodivergent youth and young adults, including those with autism, and gender-expansive youth and young adults ages 0-25 who are affected by trauma.
Basics of the Intersection of Trauma, Neurodiversity and Gender Diversity
This training is open to any professionals who work with youth, 0-25, who identify as neurodiverse (including Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities), and/or gender diverse and who have experienced trauma. We will be discussing the “Triple Intersection”. This training will offer an overview of the intersection and provide some tips for working with individuals who identify in this population. You are strongly encouraged to attend this training if you are interested in attending any of the three listed below.
September 27 from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Trauma and Neurodiversity
This two hour training will focus on working with autistic youth, youth with IDD and those who identify as neurodivergent. Participants will have time to practice skills such as the “Window of Tolerance”.
October 25 from 12-2 p.m.
Trauma and Gender Diversity
This two hour training will focus on understanding the spectrum of gender diversity and the higher risk of trauma experiences for youth who identify as gender diverse. Participants will spend time discussing the unique needs of youth who are transgender or gender diverse and how to support them across settings. Participants will practice skills such as the “Window of Tolerance”.
November 8 from 9-11 a.m.
Case Studies
This two hour training will bring together learning from the 3 hour Triple Intersection training and the two focused trainings on gender and neurodiversity. Presenters will use case examples that will promote empathy, curiosity, and application of the learning. Participants will have the opportunity to work in small groups to discuss ways that this increased knowledge is applicable to example cases.
