Join Our Info Session about Being a CASA Volunteer Advocate
CASA volunteers change the stories of children who have experienced abuse or neglect by advocating for their best interests in court. To learn more about volunteering and get your questions answered by CASA staff members or current advocates, please join us at our virtual info session on August 25 at 12:30 p.m., which will be focused on needs in the Lakes Region and Laconia.
Give a Child Who Experienced Abuse or Neglect a Brighter Future
CASA Volunteer Advocates are ordinary people who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of New Hampshire children who experienced abuse and neglect. Volunteers receive 40 hours of extensive training and ongoing support so they may serve as advocates in court for victimized children who desperately need an adult who will speak up for them.
What Does a CASA Do?
- Spends quality time with the child or children on his/her case and speaks regularly with adults involved in the child’s life
- Helps ensure the child’s needs are met
- Writes reports and attends court hearings to provide vital information to the judge
- Stays with the case until the child is in a safe, permanent home or another permanent solution is in place
Who Are Our Volunteers?
- Our volunteers come from all walks of life and from all over New Hampshire
- While many of our volunteers are retired or work part-time, almost a third of our volunteers fit CASA duties around full-time jobs
- Nearly 600 men and women are currently CASA volunteers
- Volunteers are united in a desire to make a difference in a child’s life and in their communities.
Why Volunteer Now?
- Virtual training makes it convenient to complete the in-depth training program from your own home
- Reported cases of child abuse and neglect are expected to increase once children emerge from behind the doors closed by the COVID pandemic
- More volunteers are urgently needed so every child who needs one has a CASA advocate by his or her side
